Awesome RE/MAX generosity helps children in need

A generous caring audience raised more than $14,000 for Variety – the children’s charity through a charity event at RE/MAX New Zealand’s annual awards gala at Pullman Auckland on 21st February.

Dene Tucker, RE/MAX Auction Services and Cameron Hems, RE/MAX New Zealand, were the charity auctioneers charged with the business of getting the bids.

On offer were $2000 of marketing donated by Stuff.co.nz and VIP tickets to the Pop-up Globe stage play, Measure by Measure plus a three-week, quarter page campaign in the Herald Mid-week homes donated by New Zealand Media and Entertainment, NZME.

As the hammer fell on those two items, two more donations came to the floor, from realestate.co.nz and TradeMe Property.

Even before Dene Tucker commenced calling the Variety Donation Drive, over $5000 had been raised.

He explained that the collections drive proceeds would help provide four-year old autistic, non-verbal twins, Sally and Amy, with sensory equipment to help with sleep, learning and communicating.

A heart-warming $9350 was raised, including eight people who each donated $1,000 or more.

The total sum raised far exceeded all expectation for the charity event.

“As auctioneers, we love the thrill of knocking down the hammer, we love the excitement of bids coming one after the other, we love helping people sell and achieve their dreams,” said Mr Tucker, “but, hands down, the best part of our job is when we get utilize our skills and help give back to those who are in need.”
