Mala Maharaj, Chief Operations Officer, RE/MAX New Zealand + Fiji
RE/MAX New Zealand & Fiji COO, Mala Maharaj, has held senior roles in property-related businesses since 2002. Her management, marketing and sales experience spans commercial and residential real estate, projects, investments, development and construction, and business broking.
She joined RE/MAX New Zealand & Fiji CEO, Don Ha, in business in 2004. She was general manager at Don Ha Real Estate then, subsequently, general manager at RE/MAX Revolution before being invited to the COO role with RE/MAX New Zealand in 2020.
Mala’s management roles through more than three decades have consistently been with ‘big name’ companies including Coca-Cola Amatil and KPMG in Fiji.
A marketing specialist and successful sales agent, Mala is passionate about properties, about people and about growing businesses.
The COO role puts her focus on relationships across many levels – from broker-owners, agents, real estate consumers to industry representatives and government – and involves leading a network, supporting businesses to thrive and grow, and helping individuals to grow personally and professionally.
Mala has a strong connection with Fiji and was born in Lautoka.
She has always contributed a great deal of personal time to charity, both in Fiji and New Zealand, generously giving a huge amount of assistance to events and helping to raise thousands of dollars for numerous charities annually. She is also a global connector with networks all over the world.
Mala says, “I’m certainly a goal-driven leader, a ‘doer’ and a ‘solution provider’. However, I believe that every day brings another opportunity to learn, and my purpose is to share that learning to benefit others.”
As COO, Mala oversees business operations in New Zealand and Fiji, designing and implementing strategies aligned with long-term business goals and establishing policies that promote company culture and vision. She is extremely passionate about bringing the RE/MAX opportunity to the people of Fiji and New Zealand and growing the real estate network in both countries.
